AMY EDGINGTON

I am a native of Little Rock , mostly self-taught in art. I began making collages more than 25 years ago when I found myself in an isolated farmhouse full of old copies of National Geographic. Collage satisfied my creative needs in a way nothing else ever had and without the need to invest a lot of money in paints, brushes, and canvases.
Eventually I graduated to using these traditional art supplies to create large works on canvas, but discarded materials—magazines, calendars, fabrics and found objects—still form the basis of my work, with paint, pastel, pens, pencils, and fine art papers used as icing on the cake.
I take my inspiration from reading, dreams, nature, and the beauty in things others have thrown away.
